You probably meant to say "temperance" and not "tolerance" when you were talking about Lee Remick's character in Hallelujah Trail. They weren't very tolerant towards alcohol!
This has happened to me more than once. I think I'm going to write about a certain protagonist and then I come up with a supporting character so intriguing I would rather make them the protagonist instead, in another story.
